Friday April 27

Mark Schachenberg works on our
chimney...
and we love what we see.

With the chimney in place the wall in the 'man cave' can go up.

The drywall guys came by and marked the 2X4'
locations (this shot is of the pantry).  They will start installing on Monday which should
go fast, then the taping and muding and finally, the real messy part:
the sanding.

Welcome home Andrew and Erin

Work at 11 Apple Tree Lane progresses slowly, but it's great to
see the kids.

Andrew and Erin tour the new house.

Slowly, the chimney takes shape

"Don't you dare post this photo!."

Donna threatens me not to post this photo after
locking herself on the deck!

Which is beginning to look very nice I think.

Here, Jesse works on our private little deck

and here's the view from our Bedroom.
The chimney base was poured today too.

Chimney and Deck!

The masons arrived today and stage one of the chimney is complete and will
be extended into the great room tomorrow.

The long-awaited decking is also started. We went with Timbertech
which looks beautiful and is extremely durable.  URL:
Timbertech

Rooney's not too sure about the new deck...It might take a while
before he gives it a go.

Rain, Rain...you can guess the rest

The cement mixer awaits the mason...

while the spring rain raises the pond back to normal level.  Meanwhile, no building has happened for almost a week!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Big week ahead:

Next week:  The Mason arrives and the fireplace will be started, the decking and railing will be installed, the front trim and siding will be installed and
the dry-wall installers arrive!

This is after the spray foam and before the batting

The house is amazingly quiet...
...with the battings installed.  It's like wrapping your house
inside a big pink blanket.

The decks and railings get installed next week and the house
will take on it's final look.
The ducks enjoy the pond.

Update: Day 133

The spray foam has been completed throughout the house
and the batting is ready to be installed on top.

The tub/shower inclosure in the
guest bath is placed.

The soaking tub has arrived and is
ready for placement in the MB.

The wainscoating under the front porch is being half-way
to being installed.  The main feature under the porch will be
Donna's front porch swing.

Lot's happening today!

The Northeast Spray Insulation company arrived today!

This sign welcomed me this morning.  The entire house get's 2" of insulatin foam
in every possible nook and cranny.  The foam is an R-14 value.  Later, backed fiberglass insulation will be installed over the spray foam making the total R value in excess of 25.
Cellulose insulation will eventually be pumped into the ceiling areas
after the ceiling wall-board is installed.

Here's what it looks like before the fiberglass, wall-board and cellulose.
The truck pumps foam from the street.

Eric Jones and his crew.

Our garage floor was poured and smooted today as well.
Rooney wanted to put his paw prints
in but we declined.

The long-awated great deck was began as well

Looking forward to many lovely evenings on our deck.

It was a quiet week in Lake Wobegone...

Well, not much happend at Chez Lamberth #2 this week.

We are down to 2 rough carpenters, Jeff and Andrew working on the outside finishing up the siding.  The East, South and West sides are now complete.  Patiently (not really) waiting for our deck.  Anyone seen Ben?

The electricians an plumbers finished up all the work they could do prior to the city inspections.  Now that approvals are in place the spray foam insulation company comes in tomorrow.  That should be very interesting.

The central vacuum piping was installed inside the walls.

The ERV air-to-air exchanger piping was installed in the walls and ceilings.

We met with Peter Graumnitz of Indisco, the company that is building our cabinets, for final decisions.

The tub/shower inclosure for the guest bath.arrived and is sitting in the garage.  They'll need to take some framing out to get it in

The Portland Water District came in and installed our water meter.

I guess as I read this, a little more happened than I thought, it just seems glacial.

Donna and Rooney try out the tub/shower enclosure for the guest bath.
Andrew finishes up the West side.

Water meter (automatic) is installed.  Now we can pay our bill!

ERV System Installation, siding and things seem to go so slowly...!

Say hello to Jeff Grover of Grover Contracting.  Jeff is installing
our ERV (Energy Recovery System) which is necessary when you super insulate.  (grovercontracting@yahoo.com)

Miles of heating system pipes hang down ready to be connected.

The rear and west wing (hmm...nice name for a tv series) is complete...

The soffit has a nice bead-board look.

Jeff and Andrew work on completing the siding.

The rear is done, save the deck..

which we can't wait for.

Thank you Tom and Jill.

It was great to see our friends, Tom and Jill and give them a tour.

Donna and I took chairs out onto the deck where we had
thrown down a couple of floorboards.

It was chilly out but we enjoyed our first beer and the sunset on our new deck!

Downstairs work continues at steady pace.

The electricians have completed their initial work.
The plumbers have most of the pipes in place and have just started working on installing the copper
pipes for the heating system.
The pipes for the central vacuum system are in the walls and the faceplates are set. (Thank you John Wyman!)

Next week will see:

Perhaps a garage floor!
Completion of the siding (maybe)
Our new deck and stairs! (hopefully)
Installation of our ERV system.
Installation of the beadboard ceiling of the front porch.
Installation of the heating system.
